How long does a full bathroom take?
A typical family bathroom, stripped out and completely refitted with floor to ceiling tiling, runs about five to eight working days. A straight swap of a suite in the same positions is quicker. Moving the soil pipe, converting a bath to a wet room or discovering rot under the old floor adds time, and we will tell you if we find any of that rather than working round it.
Can you turn our bath into a walk-in shower?
Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs we do. The bath comes out, the floor and wall are checked and rebuilt where needed, the area is tanked and a low profile tray or a wet room former is fitted so the fall runs to the drain properly. The tanking stage is the one that matters, because a shower that leaks into the floor is the most expensive bathroom mistake there is.
Do we need to be without a bathroom the whole time?
For a single bathroom house, expect a few days without it, and we plan the job so the toilet is back in use as quickly as possible rather than being off for the whole build. If you have a second bathroom or a cloakroom, the disruption is barely noticeable. We will be straight with you about which days are the awkward ones before we start.
Do you supply the suite and tiles or do we?
Either. Plenty of customers enjoy choosing their own suite and tiles, and we are happy to fit what you have bought and to check the quantities before you order so you are not short of tiles halfway through. If you would rather we handled it, we will source everything and you will see the supply cost separately from the labour on the quotation.
Is the electrical work in a bathroom certificated?
Bathrooms are a special location under the wiring regulations, so shower circuits, extractor fans, lighting and shaver points all have to be installed and tested to the right standard, with the correct protection and zoning. That work is carried out and certificated properly as part of the job rather than left for somebody else to sort out.
Will you take the old bathroom away and clean up?
Yes. The old suite, tiles and rubbish go with us, the floors are protected while we work, and the place is cleaned down at the end of each day rather than only at the end of the job. Tidy work matters most in a house that people are living in while it happens.
